Young amur tigress at Berlin Tierpark today. Sadly the autofocus of the 70-200mm 2,8 broke, so I was completely focusing by hand. This shot is not the sharpest, but somehow I really like it There will follow much more!
December 2012/ Nikon D300s/ Sigma 70-200mm 2,8 (broken)
I love the expression you've captured here- those eyes are just stunning. He's looking right at you, which really draws you in and makes the photo all the more powerful. If he was looking away or even looking just a little off in the distance I don't think it would be quite as eye-catching. The saturation is spot-on, too- nice contrast with the colors. I like how "un-busy" the background is, too. I only wish you had cropped some off the background off so we could focus more on the tiger. All the negative space just detracts from your subject.
